Chapel Hill Philharmonia Concert Features "Peter and the Wolf"

CHAPEL HILL, NC — Posted September 30, 2018

On Sunday, October 21, the Chapel Hill Philharmonia plays its “The Great Northern Forest” concert in Moeser Auditorium. The highlight of this annual children’s program will be Prokofiev’s popular “Peter and the Wolf”. His symphonic fairy tale includes narration by Timothy Sparks of the UNC Vocal Department and cleverly appropriate musical themes for all the characters. Conductor Donald Oehler will also lead the orchestra in two works by Sibelius: the rousing tone-poem “Finlandia” and the folk-based march from his “Karelia Suite, Op. 11.

This program is supported by the Orange County Arts Commission. Concert begins at 3:00pm in Hill Hall on the UNC-Ch campus. Admission is free.
